Developed for booklovers, this online tool not only allows you to easily create an online catalog of your own book collection but also connects you to other people who have similar libraries and reading tastes. Wanna little help getting started? Take the LibraryThing Tour or read some LibraryThing Haikus.
In addition to LibraryThing for individuals, LibraryThing can also be purchased to add functionality to library catalogs. In fact, WCPL began a trial of this service just last week! (Thanks Lynn from LIT for getting this working for us!). Click on one of the titles below and check out the new "Similar Books" and "Tags" sections on the left part of the screen.

I've used Shelfari, which is very similar to Library Thing. I love the visual shelf it creates, which you can then attach to a blog! -Katrina V. at CAM
I've had a Library Thing account for some time now. I'm delighted that we will have it connected to our OPAC. I enjoyed setting up an avitar for my yahoo account. I've used Jango for music a little, but Pandora looks interesting as well.

I already have a Pandora account and really like it. I used the "Sketch Generator" to create a cute picture of my son
I did an Avatar. Alas, Yahoo is my spam email, so I will not be using it. Natalie @ FUQ

I have enjoyed Calander Maker and Slide Show in Flickr Toys. I am a member of Shelfari which is very similar to Library Thing. Our Holly Springs Library has used Yahoo Avatars to create Staff Avatars for displaying each staff member's favorate books.

I have a Library Thing account, but I'm glad you mentioned it, because it's been a long time since I have updated it. I think the Pandora station is really cool. If I spent a lot of time at my computer, I would definitely use it. The image generator blog looks interesting--didn't have a chance to try it out, though.

I've always wanted wings and flaming purple hair and with my avatar I can have them :)
LibraryThing seems to be working well in our OPAC. If you haven't tried it, give it a whirl. I made a reading list the other day based on the "similar books" recommendation and the best part was that I know we own the books, since LibraryThing in the OPAC only links to similar books WE ACTUALLY OWN! Hurrah!
West Regional has a LibraryThing virtual staff picks - you can see our picks here: http://www.librarything.com/catalog/westadults

I've intended to check out Pandora for a while---it was nice to get work credit for doing it!

I like how LibraryThing enhances our catalog and I'm looking forward to using Pandora.
I have a Library Thing account but I tend to use GoodReads more often because there isn't a limit to the number of books that you can post. Library Thing tops out at 200 books and then you have to pay. :(

I enjoyed playing with an avatar. I had a look at Library Thing on our catalog--what a great idea. I look forward to trying Pandora--very excited about that.

I tried Library Thing and it was cool. Yahoo avatars were interesting, but I don't think I will use them as much. I didn't think I would like Pandora, because I don't keep up with music much, but I loved it. You can enter something you like and it just picks other things you will like. Yeah!
pandora is way cool and librarything looks a lot like goodreads.com
